Ex-minister denies the presidential candidate

Former Minister of Economy, Farhad Aliyev hastily denied his relative, a professor and historian Jamil Hasanly, who on Friday was nominated  as a single candidate from the National Council of Democratic Forces.

Aliyev, who is serving  his term in prison, issued a statement  about the support of the  candidacy of the current president, Ilham Aliyev.

It is noteworthy that for a long time Hasanly  has been leading  the commiitte to protect the rights of Farhad Aliyev. Thanking Jamil Hasanly for his efforts to protect his rights, the ex-minister said  that he will vote for Ilham Aliyev, who provided the economic revival of Azerbaijan and increased international prestige.

Aliyev was arrested in 2005 on charges of  coup attempt, and then the charge was changed to abuse and theft.

President Aliyev,  accused the former minister of treason.

Observers note that such statements from jail are usually  made under pressure. It should be noted that the former minister  is to be released in 2015, but he hopes on parole. Previously, he applied for early release.
