French Foreign Minister goes to Baku to demand restoration of Lachin road traffic
Baku/25.04.23/Turan: French Minister of Foreign Affairs Catherine Colonna will pay a visit to Azerbaijan and Armenia on 26-28 April, the French Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The visit aims to reaffirm France's commitment to negotiations between the two countries for a just and lasting peace while respecting territorial integrity and the principles of international law. "The visit also demands that the rights of the Armenian population of Nagorno-Karabakh be guaranteed and that the Lachin corridor be restored immediately," the Foreign Ministry said in a statement on its website.
In Baku, the Minister will meet with President Ilham Aliyev and Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov. She will also pay tribute to the victims of Soviet repression on 20 January 1990.
In Yerevan, the Minister will meet Prime Minister Nikol Pashinian and Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan. She will visit the headquarters of the European Union Monitoring Mission in Jermuk and the Armenian Genocide Memorial.
The Minister will also visit Georgia on 28 April. During talks with the President of the Republic, Salome Zurabishvili, Prime Minister Irakli Garibakhvili and Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili she will highlight her support for the rule of law and civic space reforms needed to continue the country's rapprochement with the European Union. -0-

Activist Nijat Ibrahim, who was detained in Baku pre-trial detention center-1, inflicted numerous wounds on himself on November 20 in protest against unjustified criminal prosecution, his wife Parvin Ibrahim told Turan. According to her, on November 21, her husband called her and informed her that the day before he had inflicted incised wounds on himself with a piece of mirror. In particular, he cut his throat and ears.
