Energy security is an important factor in ensuring the independence of any country and the European Union must do everything possible to protect Ukraine from the Russian energy diktat.
This was stated by the EU Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy Stefan Fule, speaking Tuesday at an informal meeting of foreign ministers of the "Eastern Partnership" in Baku.
Fule also said that all 6 of the "Eastern Partnership" are very important for the EU and the European Union supports their territorial integrity.
He also stressed the importance of the Baku meeting in the light of developments in Ukraine.
The meeting in Baku was attended by the Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine. Armenia refused to participate in the meeting. -03B-
