Georgia Will Sign an Agreement with the European Union - Foreign Minister
Tbilisi/27.11.13/Turan-BSPRESS: Georgian Foreign Minister Maya Panjikidze is confident that at the upcoming Vilnius summit of Eastern Partnership there is nothing to prevent initialing the Association Agreement with the EU, and in 2014 it will be signed.
At the summit of Eastern Partnership, which will be held in Vilnius on 28-29 November, the initialing of the Association Agreement of Georgia with the European Union is planned. In diplomatic practice, this means preliminary signing of an international treaty, in confirmation of the understanding achieved.
"Our delegation will fly to Vilnius, and initialing will not be violated," Panjikidze told the broadcasting company Rustavi 2, and added that before the final signing of the agreement, many technical issues will need to be resolved.
"I am absolutely sure that no matter what happens during this time, we will sign the agreement in September 2014," said Panjikidze.
The Eastern Partnership provides political and economic rapprochement of six post-Soviet states - Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine and Belarus with the EU.
The summit will be held in the exhibition hall LITEXPO. Initialing of the Association Agreement with the EU will be held on November 29 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. After initialing the document an association with the EU is planned to be signed in September 2014. -02D-
