The movement National Unity for the Country announced the nomination of the First Lady of Azerbaijan, MP Mehriban Aliyeva as a candidate for presidency.
The authors of the statement believe that among the already approved candidates for presidency, there are few ones worthy. In this regard, the most acceptable candidate is Mehriban Aliyeva, according to the movement.
The statement claims that an opinion poll showed that Mehriban Aliyeva is the most popular figure in the country able to solve its problems. The movement believes that Aliyeva will respond positively to this initiative.
The National Unity for the Country was established by the head of the religious society Tovba (Repentance) and the Mosque Community Imam Hussein, Abdul Abdulzadeh (Haji Abdul) in July this year. In addition, the movement consists of the unions Baku-Renaissance, Azerbaijani Progressive Alliance, etc.
Note that in June, Aliyeva's candidacy was also put forward by a group calling itself the Party of Democratic Azerbaijan World. However, this idea was received with hostility by the ruling party New Azerbaijan, describing it as a provocation. -05D06-
