Azerbaijan must honor its commitments and sign documents with the EU in the framework of the Eastern Partnership. This was announced at a press conference on 27 November by the former presidential candidate from NCDF Jamil Hasanli, expressing his attitude to the position of official Baku on November 28-29 for the upcoming summit of Eastern Partnership in Vilnius.
In his view, Azerbaijan should make a decisive choice in favor of European integration.
"Azerbaijan has defined its pro-Western choice in 1918 and proclaimed an independent republic. The same thing was done also after the restoration of independence in 1991.
In convergence with the OSCE, the Council of Europe, NATO and the EU, both political and economic factors are important. We should go where we direct our energy pipelines," said Hasanli.
According to Hasanli, Armenia's joining the Customs Union opens new possibilities for the security and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.
"Azerbaijan's way passes through Europe. Joining documents of the Eastern Partnership, Azerbaijan will find new opportunities for the provision of international pressure on Armenia to liberate the occupied territories," said Hasanli. -03C06-
