Hungarian Minister Calls on EU to Conclude Agreement with Azerbaijan
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, Peter Siyarto urged the European Union (EU) as a matter of urgency to liberalize the visa regime with Ukraine and Georgia and to conclude an agreement with Azerbaijan, Anadolu Agency reported.
During his speech at a meeting of the Foreign Ministers of EU member states, Siyarto noted that the security of the EU's eastern neighbors is very fragile, and this situation threatens Europe: Except for Belarus, Ukraine, Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan have hot or frozen conflicts."
According to him, the EU should support these countries. "It is necessary to liberalize the visa regime with Ukraine and Georgia. These countries have fulfilled all the necessary requirements. The delay in this matter may cause damage to the security of Europe," he said.
Siyarto also called urgently to conclude an agreement on Eastern Cooperation with Azerbaijan. "This country located on the shores of the Caspian Sea can play a key role in the diversification of energy sources to Europe. Azerbaijan should be considered a strategic partner of the EU," he said. -02D-
