I. Aliyev's meetings with the Prosecutor General and the Minister of Transport of Turkey
Baku/31.05.31/Turan: On May 30, the head of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received a Turkish delegation headed by the Prosecutor General of the Supreme Court of Turkey, Bekir Shahin.
The meeting discussed issues of cooperation between Prosecutor's Offices of the two countries and the experience of Turkey to be used in reforming the Prosecutor's Office of Azerbaijan.
The same day, President Aliyev received a delegation headed by the Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Adil Karaismayiloglu.
Welcoming the guest, Aliyev noted that the importance of the transport sector had increased after the Second Karabakh War. "Now there are new projects on the agenda. We are working over a new corridor - the Zangezur corridor which is to provide a new link between Turkey and Azerbaijan," Aliyev said.
He noted that Armenia had previously protested on this issue, however, recently "I have been informed the Armenian party is adequately analyzing the situation to mean the inevitability of this corridor."
According to him, discussions on the issue are held in a trilateral format at the level of the Deputy Prime Ministers of Azerbaijan, Russia, and Armenia.
"We have already started laying a railway across the liberated territories, from Goradiz to the border with Armenia. I am sure that in the next two, maybe two and a half years, this railway will be fully put into operation, " Aliyev said.
A part of the Zangezur corridor should be built in Armenia. Thus, a new corridor will be opened, and the connection between Azerbaijan and Turkey will become the most solid, Aliyev said.
In turn, Adil Karaismayiloglu said that the Turkish party had already completed a railway project between Nakhchivan and Kars. The implementation of this program will allow to create a new corridor across the territory of Nakhchivan. -02D-
