I.Aliyev took part in the opening of the Bulgaria-Serbia interconnector
Baku/10.12.23/Turan: On December 10, the launch ceremony of the Bulgaria-Serbia gas interconnector was held in the Serbian city of Nis. The presidents of Azerbaijan , Serbia and Bulgarıa took part in the ceremony.
In his speech, Aliyev said that gas exports to Europe this year will grow from 8 to 12 billion cubic meters, and by 2027 the volume of gas exports to Europe will double.
Minister of Extractive Industry and Energy of Serbia Dubravka Dedovich Handanovic previously told reporters that the capacity of the interconnector will be 1.8 billion cubic meters of gas per year, which will come from Azerbaijan and the Caspian region.
The 109 km long interconnector was built in a year. It's important for Gasification of the southeastern part of Serbia.
The total cost of the Niš-Dimitrovgrad-Bulgaria gas pipeline amounted to 85.5 million euros. The funds were allocated by the European Union - 49.6 million euros, the European Investment Bank - a loan of 25 million euros and from the budget of Serbia.
Bulgaria has been receiving Azerbaijani gas since 2021, and in early 2024 it will also receive liquefied natural gas through the port of Alexandroupolis in Greece.
Serbia has imported almost all gas from the Russian Federation for 25 years, but is now expanding the list of suppliers. For Azerbaijan, Serbia will become the 8th country in the Eurozone to receive its gas.
In November 2023, the Serbian state company Srbijagas and Azerbaijani SOCAR signed a contract, under which in 2024-26. Azerbaijan will supply Serbia with up to 400 million cubic meters of gas per year. In the future, this volume will increase to 1.0-1.2 billion cubic meters per year.-0-

Activist Nijat Ibrahim, who was detained in Baku pre-trial detention center-1, inflicted numerous wounds on himself on November 20 in protest against unjustified criminal prosecution, his wife Parvin Ibrahim told Turan. According to her, on November 21, her husband called her and informed her that the day before he had inflicted incised wounds on himself with a piece of mirror.
