Ilgar Mamedov Put in Solitary Confinement
The convicted leader of the movement REAL Ilgar Mamedov, who is serving a sentence in prison N 2, has been thrown into solitary confinement for seven days. Turan was told by his lawyer Fuad Agayev.
Today, the lawyer was not explained the reasons for the punishment of Mamedov and was not allowed to meet with him.
Agayev intended to meet with Mamedov to discuss defense tactics on the appeal by the REAL leader to the Supreme Court, which is unnecessarily delayed from January this year.
In addition, the attorney was planning to discuss with Mamedov filing the second complaint with the European Court of Human Rights, and issues related to delays in the execution of the first verdict of the Strasbourg Court on the case.
The lawyer described the refusal to let him meet with Mamedov as a gross violation of the right to defense.
* On March 17, 2013, Ilgar Mamedov was sentenced to 7 years in prison for organizing riots in Ismayilli on 23-24 January 2013.
On May 22, 2014 the European Court of Human Rights declared the detention of Mamedov illegal. By the decision of the European Court, the government of Azerbaijan has to pay compensation of 22,000 Euros to Mamedov.
