Ilham Aliyev hopes for a speedy implementation of the transport project "North-South"
President Ilham Aliyev expects that the project of the international transport corridor "North-South" will be implemented in the near future, the President of Azerbaijan said at the trilateral meeting of the presidents of Azerbaijan, Iran and Russia in Baku, according to RIA Novosti. "At present there is a railway connection between Russia and Azerbaijan. This year we decided that Azerbaijan will extend his railroad to the border with Iran, I hope that we will achieve this in the coming months," the President said.
He recalled that recently was held a ceremony of laying the foundation of a railway bridge over the river Astara on Azerbaijan-Iran border. "These infrastructure projects are an integral part of the transport corridor" North-South ". The transport corridor "North-South" is a transnational project of strategic importance in the future, this corridor will benefit from many countries. This corridor has a very high economic efficiency ... I hope that by joint efforts we will soon achieve the realization of this project," Aliyev said.
