Ilham Aliyev Meets with Donald Tusk
Baku / 13.05.19 / Turan: As part of anniversary events on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Eastern Partnership Program, President Ilham Aliyev met with the Chairman of the EU Council, Donald Tusk, in Brussels on May 13.
During the conversation, satisfaction was expressed with the development of links between Azerbaijan and the European Union, AZERTAG reports.
Tusk called Azerbaijan a reliable and responsible partner for the European Union.
He stressed that the European Union highly appreciates the role of Azerbaijan in the region.
Azerbaijan attaches great importance to expanding ties with the EU, in its turn, Aliyev said.
He told Tusk about the situation in the negotiation process on the settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
The meeting noted the importance of the Partnership Priorities document signed between Azerbaijan and the European Union last year. There was also an exchange of views on the Partnership Agreement, the negotiations on which are continued. -06B-

On Monday, the Baku Appeals Court considered the appeal of Talysh researcher Iqbal Abilov against the extension of his detention for another four months. The defense argued that the decision to extend Abilov's detention was unjustified, lawyer Fariz Namazly told reporters.
