Ilham Aliyev: National Unity - the success of Azerbaijan
The first European games is a historic event for the country and Europe, President Ilham Aliyev said on Monday at a ceremony to mark the completion of European Games. He expressed gratitude to the President of the European Olympic Committees Patrick Hickey for a decision that the future of the Games torch will be lit in Azerbaijan, in the temple of Ateshgah. Aliyev thanked the Operations Committee, volunteers, and all other participants.
"I particularly appreciate the great work by Mehriban Aliyeva, who led the Organizing Committee. She has made an enormous contribution to the Games. I can say that she invested her heart and soul in the Games at this level," Aliyev said.
Speaking about the results of sports, Aliyev noted the high achievements of the national team. "Good atmosphere in society, unity between the people and the government, unity around national ideas, national consensus - these are the basic conditions of our success," he said.
The second place is a historic victory. The victory of Azerbaijani sport. Today, Azerbaijan is on the top, moving forward successfully as an independent, growing, strong state. "We have achieved great victories in the political and economic spheres, in the diplomatic arena, in sports competitions. We are rightly proud of this," said in the conclusion Ilham Aliyev. -02D-
