Ilham Aliyev received the credentials of the Ambassadors of Switzerland and Latvia
Baku/10/24.23/Turan: President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received the credentials of the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Switzerland Thomas Steele, the website of the head of state reports.
Expressing satisfaction with the level of cooperation in trade, economic, and energy spheres, Aliyev touched upon the "successful activities" of Swiss companies in Azerbaijan. He stressed their active work on reconstruction projects in the territories of Azerbaijan liberated from occupation and stated that there is good cooperation in this direction.
Aliyev regarded SOCAR's activities in Switzerland and Swiss companies' investments in Azerbaijan's economy as a good indicator of bilateral business relations. Speaking first of all about his visit to Karabakh, Steele noted that he got acquainted with the ongoing restoration work there. He noted that he intends to invite Swiss companies here.
According to him, there is a good potential for expanding cooperation in the economic sphere. The Ambassador also stressed that the program of cooperation with Azerbaijan has been implemented for almost 20 years.
At the same time, he noted with satisfaction the activities of Swiss companies in the macroeconomic sphere, as well as in the development of the financial and private sectors in Azerbaijan.
On October 24, the President of Azerbaijan also received the credentials of the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia Edgars Skui. The Latvian diplomat conveyed to the head of state the invitation of his president to make an official visit to Riga. President Ilham Aliyev gratefully accepted the invitation.
The meeting noted the successful cooperation between Azerbaijan and Latvia not only on a bilateral basis, but also within the framework of international organizations. It was noted with satisfaction that the Embassy of Latvia in Baku performs the function of NATO coordinator in Azerbaijan, contributes to the development of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the North Atlantic Alliance.
In addition, the support provided by Latvia as a member state in the development of Azerbaijan's relations with both NATO and the European Union was highly appreciated.—05В-
