Ilham Aliyev: The EU does not show a specific position on the Karabakh conflict
The relations between Azerbaijan and the European Union were discussed on April 29 at a meeting of the President Ilham Aliyev with EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus Herbert Salber.
According to the site of the President, Salber expressed concern about the situation on the contact line of Azerbaijani and Armenian troops, and said that the need for resolving the conflict is now higher than ever. According to him, the EU intends to expand cooperation with Azerbaijan, to contribute to the settlement of regional conflicts.
Aliyev said that the most interested party in the conflict is Azerbaijan since the country's territory has been under occupation for many years, and the efforts of international mediators are futile. Armenia torpedoes the peace process, creating armed provocations on the contact line to preserve the status quo, he said. Aliyev also expressed regret that the EU does not show a specific position on the conflict settlement.
During the meeting the sides also discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the EU. -06D-
