In 2013, Germany rejected the application for arms supplies to Georgia, Azerbaijan and Ukraine
Tbilisi / Turan-BSPRESS: Germany in 2013 increased arms exports by almost a quarter, according to the report by the Ministry of Economy and Energy of Germany, presented Wednesday at the meeting of the Government of Germany. In particular, exports increased due to trade with Saudi Arabia and Qatar and totaled 5.8 billion euros.
In the preamble to the written report of the Minister of Economy, Sigmar Gabriel, said that the government in the future will be able to report all approved supplies, but it cannot speak openly about all weapons applications rejected for export. The reason for this is the need for confidentiality in the interests of trade in weapons. At the same time, the minister said that the government of Germany had never reported so openly on arms exports, as in the present report.
The document, however, reported that only in 2013 71 applications for the export of arms from Germany were rejected. The total amount of rejected applications was 10.04 million euros. Among the countries that export was not allowed there are Azerbaijan, Georgia, Iran, Kazakhstan, and Ukraine.
Nevertheless, as the annex to the report says, supplies to Ukraine were stable. This was mainly sporting and hunting weapons. Azerbaijan and Iran are included in the list of countries in which the sale of arms is embargoed. This list also includes China, Iraq, Lebanon, Libya, Sudan, Syria, and Belarus. -02D-
