Investigation in the case of former Prosecutor General Eldar Hasanov completed
Baku/16.08.21/Turan: The Prosecutor General's Office completed the investigation of the case of its former head Eldar Hasanov, and sent it to court, reads the message of the Prosecutor General's Office dated August 16.
The investigation accuses Hasanov of embezzlement and misappropriation while working as the ambassador of Azerbaijan to Romania, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro in the period 2010-2020.
In particular, the talk is about more than 180 thousand euros during repair work and the acquisition of premises for embassies. Other persons who also forged the documents have been involved in thefts.
Hasanov is accused under the Articles: 179.3.2 (misappropriation), 193-1.3.2 (legalization of illegally obtained funds), 308.2 (abuse of office), 308-1.1 (misuse of budget funds) and 313 (official forgery).
On August 16, the materials were sent to the Baku Serious Crimes Court. The materials of the case against other participants in the illegal actions were put forward in a separate proceeding.
The prosecutor's office also denied media reports about a sharp deterioration of Eldar Hasanov’s health. “He was examined at the hospital of the State Security Service and at the same time no illnesses were revealed that would impede the conduct of a criminal case,” the message says.
We will remind that earlier the lawyer and relatives of Hasanov stated that he often loses consciousness and cannot move because of a serious spinal illness. On June 2, he underwent an operation at the hospital of the State Security Service.
* Eldar Hasanov was detained on August 13, 2020 by employees of the State Security Service and arrested on charges of abuse and misappropriation of budget funds.
In 2001-2020 Hasanov served as the ambassador of Azerbaijan to Romania, and then to Serbia, Montenegro and Bosnia. In 1995-2000, he was the Prosecutor General of Azerbaijan. -16D-
