Iran-Azerbaijan economic ties should be improved
The newly appointed Ambassador of Iran to Azerbaijan, Javad Jahangirzadeh called for the strengthening of economic ties between the two countries to the level of political relations.
He stated this during a meeting with the governor of Ardabil Majid Khodabakhsh on Wednesday, IRNA news agency reported.
The Ambassador said that political relations between the two countries have improved significantly in the last 3 years, but the economic cooperation is lagging behind the policy. According to him, the Iranian province of East and West Azerbaijan, Ardebil and Gilan have the greatest economic relations with the Republic of Azerbaijan. The annual number of tourists from Azerbaijan to Iran is 1 million people (approximately 20% of the total number of tourists.)
Ardabil governor, in turn, noted that the border terminal Bilasuvar opened recently allowed to facilitate the movement of goods and people across the border. Khodabakhsh urged Baku to remove obstacles to mutual cooperation, such as preferential tariffs, which were introduced by Azerbaijan towards the Iranian goods. -02D-
