Iran proposed to restore work of Azerbaijani embassy in Tehran - Bayramov
Baku/05.06.23/Turan: Iran has offered Azerbaijan to restore the work of the Azerbaijani diplomatic mission in Tehran, closed after an act of terrorism on January 27, when one embassy staff member was killed and three were wounded. Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov told reporters on Monday, speaking at ADA University.
"The criminal case over the attack on the Azerbaijani embassy in Iran continues. We believe this event had a very negative impact on the relations between the two countries. At the same time, we have received several requests from Iran regarding the reinstatement of our diplomatic mission," Bayramov said.
"The Azerbaijani side must be absolutely sure that the perpetrators, those who ordered it, will be brought to justice and severely punished. All guarantees related to this should be provided to the Azerbaijani side not in words, but in deeds," he continued.
The Minister also commented on the arrest of Azerbaijani student Farid Safarli in Iran. "It took us a long time to get information about the fate of this man. There is communication between this student and the Consulate General of Azerbaijan in Tabriz," the Minister said.-16D-
