Iskender Hamidov Released (VIDEO)
Arrested on Wednesday around 15.00 by persons in plain clothes, the former head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan Iskender Hamidov was released after 3.5 hours.
Hamidov said that he was blindfolded and taken to one of the offices of the Interior Ministry, but he does not know exactly where. There he was questioned about his speech at a rally on May 28 in Novkhani and warned that he would not make such statements any more.
According to Hamidov, in response, he said he would speak even more strongly.
No formal charges have been brought against him. Hamidov again was blindfolded and taken to the park near the metro station "Narimanov", where he had been detained.--0--

Today at about 15:00 in the park near the "Narimanov" metro station was arrested and taken in unknown direction the former Interior Minister, Iskander Hamidov. At the time of arrest Hamidov he was in an outdoor café, and drank tea with several people. Individuals in civilian clothes knocked him to the ground, handcuffed and took away in an unknown direction. The attackers said they were from the police, Turan by Eldar Tagiyev, who was with Hamidov.
Yesterday at an opposition rally in the village of Novkhani he criticized the current government, calling it "immoral." Hamidov also called on the opposition to radical actions, because a peaceful change of the current regime is impossible. The press service of the Interior Ministry did not comment on the detention of Hamidov, citing a lack of information. –16B06--
