Islamists Mark Quds Day by Two Anti-Israeli Actions
A group of activists of the Islamic Party numbering 25-30 attempted to hold a protest outside the Israeli Embassy on the occasion of the International Day of Quds (Jerusalem) today. They protested against the Israeli occupation and expressed solidarity with the Palestinian people.
However, the police arrived immediately and detained the protesters and took them to the Yasamal District Police, one of the detainees - Deputy Chairman of the Islamic Party Akif Heydarli told Turan. According to him, also detained was the head of the IPA Elchin Manafov.
Another IPA action of this morning was held on the Alley of Martyrs. It was attended by about 100 people. The police did not interfere, and the protesters laid flowers, read a resolution and slogans, and then dispersed.
International Quds Day was established by the leader of the Islamic Revolution of Iran Khomeini and is celebrated every year on the last Friday of Ramadan, in protest against the Israeli occupation of Jerusalem. -06C -
