Baku/04.10.22/Turan: Covering the completed visit to Azerbaijan of Defense Minister Benny Gantz, the Israeli press, as referred to the Defense Ministry, reports that during the visit he wanted to emphasize the importance of strategic relations between the two countries, as well as the need to continue work for peace and stability in the world and in the region specifically.
The visit dealt with political and security issues, as well as deepening cooperation between the two countries. During the visit, the Minister of Defense met with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev; was greeted by the guard of honor at the Ministry of Defense and met with Minister of Defense General Zakir Hasanov; visited the headquarters of the Azerbaijani Border Service and had a conversation with the head of the Border Service Elchin Guliyev.
The Minister of Defense introduced the Azerbaijani side with his country's vision of changes in the Middle East after the Abraham Accords (an agreement on the normalization of relations between the State of Israel and the United Arab Emirates, signed on September 15, 2020 - ed.), and also discussed with partners the progress in relations between Israel and Turkey; as well as between other partners in the region and around the world.
Note that the delegation of the Minister of Defense included: General Director of the Ministry of Defense, Lieutenant Colonel Amir Eshel, Head of the Security and Policy Department of the Ministry of Defense, Brigadier General Yaki Dolph.
On October 11, 2020, a pro-Armenian group filed a petition with the Israeli High Court demanding that Benny Gantz be held accountable for supplying weapons to Azerbaijan. The accusations were denied.—0—
