Ivanishvili thanks Azerbaijan for cheap gas
Tbilisi/24.12.12/Turan-BS PRESS: The Prime Minister of Georgia Bidzina Ivanishvili thanked Azerbaijan for the supply of natural gas at a low cost country.
"I will use this opportunity to thank our neighboring and friendly country, Azerbaijan, for the gas sold to Georgia at a good price. We really buy cheap. This is a result of our friendly and commercial relations," Ivanishvili said at a press conference on Monday, 24 December.
However, the Prime Minister expressed regret that the government can not significantly reduce natural gas rates for the population.
"We have no reserves for significantly reduce the price for gas, but we can reduce the price of gas symbolically. We buy gas at a good price from Azerbaijan, but there are many complex reasons, due to which we could not be able to lower rates, now we study them, and soon everything will be clear to the public," said Ivanishvili.
Gas rates in Georgia for the population have been differentiated depending on the area of residence. Tbilisi residents, in particular, pay for gas per 51 tetri ($ 0.31) per kubic meter. -02D-
