Ivanishvili"s visit to Armenia on the verge of collapse?
Tbilisi/15.01.13/Turan-BSPRESS: The Prime Minister of Georgia, Bidzina Ivanishvili, did not comment on the information relating to the statements of the Georgian Foreign Ministry, Maya Panjikidze, on the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.
Thus, Azerbaijani media reported that, while the visit in Lithuania on January 10, at a meeting with a group of members of Parliament, Panjikidze stated that "the settlement of the Karabakh conflict is possible only in favor of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan."
In turn, the Georgian media reported that for this comment the Prime Minister of Georgia reproached her. Now, his official visit to Armenia, which is scheduled for January 17, is on the verge of collapse.
"Maya Panjikidze will return to Georgia today, and will make comment herself," reporters were told by Ivanishvili on Tuesday prior to the government meeting.
Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Parliament of Georgia, Tedo Japaridze, expressed doubt that Panjikidze will be in serious trouble for this.
"I did not see this information, but I do not think that even if this is true, it can be a reason for scandal and the liability of minister", Japaridze told reporters.
In turn, the Armenian media wrote that their Azerbaijani colleagues spread false information. In particular, according to the Armenian media, the Georgian Foreign Ministry told them that at that meeting Panjikidze said "respects the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan", and she did not mention Nagorno Karabakh at all. Meanwhile, supporters of Saakashvili in the parliament demanded resignation of Panjikidzde, who failed in this area of work. -02D-
