Joint Exercises of Navy of Russia, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan
Navy ships of Russia, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan will hold planned joint exercises in 2015, the press service chief of the Southern Military District of the Armed Forces of Russia Igor Gorbul told TASS.
Trilateral exercises of the Navy of the Caspian states will be held in the middle part of the Caspian Sea for the first time in June and July 2015.
Russian Navy will be represented by a detachment of three new ships – a small artillery ship and two small missile ships Makhachkala, Svijazhsk and Uglich, he said.
During the joint action the Navy ships of the three countries will fulfill the task of protecting sea lanes and maritime areas of economic activity, including elements of the joint navigation and maneuvering, single and joint military exercises with artillery fire on sea, air and shore targets, said the Colonel.
In addition to martial exercises, the crews will conduct exercises on search, rescue and assistance to a vessel in distress, Gorbul added. -16D-
