Khalafov: Acceptance of Gabala Radar Station Completed
The work of the commission on the reception-delivery of the Gabala Radar Station is completed, said the Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov.
The acceptance process consists of two phases: the first - inventory, the second - a complete delivery, as well as transportation of the equipment owned by Russia, the departure of the personnel and their families.
According to Khalaf Khalafov, the Azerbaijani side has completed all the associated measures and prepared the official documents. The station has now completely ceased operations.
The Deputy Minister also noted that the negotiations are consistent with the spirit of the Azerbaijani-Russian relations; there was no disagreement and all the issues were resolved in an expeditious manner. "Currently, we are carrying out loading and transportation of the equipment on board the Russian aircraft," said Halafov.
Previously, Baku and Moscow have not agreed to extend the operation of the radar due to the high rental price sought by Azerbaijan.
Baku does not plan to use this station and most likely it will be demolished. According to unofficial data, a golf club will be built in the area. -16D04-
