Khalid Ismailova (Khalid), an employee of the Institute of Literature of the Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, and her driver Shamhal Huseynov were arrested in Iran on April 30. They have now returned to Azerbaijan, according to Elman Abdullayev, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan. He did not answer the question whether there was trial in Iran or not.
"It was the decision of the Iranian side, they have just passed our citizens to the Embassy of Azerbaijan," said Elman Abdullayev.
Khalid and Huseynov did not make statements to the press at the Baku airport.
They were arrested on April 30 in the house of Mohammad Oktay, an activist of the movement for the rights of Azerbaijanis.
No specific charges were made against the citizens of Azerbaijan.-16D04-
