Three days after the detention of the assistant to the PFPA leader, the police issued a statement on this occasion.

In a joint press release the Prosecutor General, the Ministry of Interior and the State Security Service said that Faig Amirov was arrested in a criminal case to prevent illegal actions of the movement Hizmet headed by Fethullah Gulen.

The investigation revealed that "this movement has spread the idea of social and religious hatred and enmity and limitation of the rights of citizens in Azerbaijan," the report says.

In particular, in the apartment of an employee of the mobile operator Azerfon, Chairman of the Azerbaijan Popular Front Party Youth Organization at the Khatai district Fuad Ahmadli there were ‘discovered texts of speeches by Fethullah Gulen, documents about the members of the Gulen Community and Hizmet imams, and electronic data carriers.’

The State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations ‘found in the data material evidence of calls for social and religious hatred and enmity, and humiliation of national dignity."

"The investigation also established that the assistant to the party chairman Faig Amirov, using his position of financial director of the newspaper Azadlig  for personal gain, together with like-minded people from the movement Hizmet is suspected of maintaining connections with people whose names are on the list of Hizmet imams,’ the statement said.

He was found literature that promotes the ideas of Gulen, inciting social, or religious hatred. He is suspected of distributing these materials through electronic media.

The search of Amirov’s car found and confiscated three books by Gulen, whose import into the country requires a permit, and eight discs with his sermons. In the apartment there were found and seized two plastic bags with the invoices of the newspaper Azadlig and information carriers,’ Prosecutor General's Office reported.

Amirov is charged under articles 168.1 (infringement of the rights of citizens under the pretext of performing religious rites) and 283.2.2 (incitement of national, racial or religious hatred by a person using his official position). He was arrested.

To identify the foreign relations of the movement Hizmet in Azerbaijan, the funding sources and other specifics of its activity, the prosecutor's office of Azerbaijan appealed to the Turkish authorities with a view to carry out an investigation on the territory of the country, the message concluded. -06D--
