Lawyers ask to admit doctors to Eldar Hasanov and change his preventive measure
Baku/14.04.21/Turan: The arrested ex-prosecutor general and ambassador to Serbia Eldar Hasanov needs serious treatment, stated the appeal of lawyers Jalil Mirzoyev, Valeh Mehraliev, Adem Mammadov and Javad Javadov addressed to the head of state. The message notes that in the past two months, Hasanov's health has deteriorated sharply and there was a threat to his life.
The petitions of the defense to invite specialized doctors to the pre-trial detention center for Hasanov are ignored by the General Prosecutor's Office. At the same time, all requests for a surgical operation were rejected for Hasanov, who has already undergone seven operations over the past 6 years and is experiencing serious problems due to a spinal disease.
The lawyers are asking the head of state to help in resolving the issue of admitting doctors to Hasanov and replacing his preventive measure with house arrest. At the request of Turan, the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office reported that the case against Hasanov was being conducted objectively and a forensic medical examination was appointed based on the appeals of the defense.
Eldar Hasanov, who served as the ambassador of Azerbaijan to Serbia and Bosnia Herzegovina, was arrested on August 13, 2020 by the State Security Service, on whose submission on April 14 the Sabail court of Baku arrested him on charges of abuse of office (308.2), illegal spending of budget funds (308-1.1 of the country's Criminal Code).
In the 90s, the ambitious Eldar Hasanov worked as the country's attorney general and was fired for no apparent reason. Later, government circles began to spread the opinion that Hasanov claimed power and was considered by certain circles as a possible successor to Heydar Aliyev. –0--
