Lithuania bans railway transit of a number of goods to Kaliningrad
Baku/20.06.22/Turan: The Russian Foreign Ministry threatens Lithuania with taking measures "to protect its national interests" if Lithuania does not restore cargo transit to Kaliningrad in the near future, the head of the Lithuanian diplomatic mission was told on Monday at the Russian Foreign Ministry.
The situation escalated after Lithuania imposed restrictions on the transit of goods to the Kaliningrad region of Russia that fell under EU sanctions. This step was agreed with Brussels. Due to sanctions, the ban affected about 50% of cargo. Meanwhile, calls were made in the State Duma to resolve the issue by force. --02D--
