Mandate of EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus expired
January 31, 2014 the mandate of the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus Philippe Lefort expired.
As the press service of the European Union said, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton thanked Philippe Lefort for the hard work, energy and dedication as co-chair of the Geneva discussions and the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia.
"Lefort worked patiently and impartially and was eager to help the parties resolve their contradictions and was able to gain their trust. I expect the same approach from the next special envoy."
According to Ashton, the new EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus will be appointed within a few weeks. -02D-
