Merkel Accuses Russia of Destabilizing Post-Soviet Countries
Baku / 15.09.18 / Turan: Russia destabilizes the situation in Ukraine, Georgia, Armenia, Moldova and Azerbaijan. This was stated by the Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel, speaking before the German soldiers stationed in Lithuania.
"We see that, in fact, almost all former Soviet republics that are not part of the EU or NATO are facing internal conflicts created by Russia," she said.
Today, all these states are busy recovering their territorial integrity, since Russia either separated parts of their territories or sparked conflicts there, Merkel added. As an example, she named Ukraine, Georgia, Armenia, Moldova and Azerbaijan.
The units of the Bundeswehr, located in the Baltic countries within the framework of the NATO mission, are necessary to contain the hybrid war that Russia is waging. This war includes cyber attacks, said Angela Merkel.
A little over 4,500 NATO soldiers and officers are deployed on the rotational basis in the Baltic countries and Poland. -02D-
