Disciplinary Proceedings against Elchin Sadigov
Baku /15.09.18/Turan: The Bar Association started disciplinary proceedings against the lawyer Elchin Sadigov. He wrote about this on his Facebook page.
"Sardar Gasymov, member of the Disciplinary Commission, called me. I was invited to the Bar on September 17 to be familiarized with the complaint of the Prosecutor General's Office. They not only listened to a confidential meeting, but also started disciplinary proceedings," Sadigov writes.
Recall that Elchin Sadygov was removed from the defense of Yunis Safarov accused of attempting to kill the head of the Ganja Executive Power, Elmar Veliyev. On September 11, Safarov's mother Leila Ismayilova stated this.
The decision to remove Sadigov was taken by the First Deputy Prosecutor, Rustam Usubov.
As a reason, he pointed out the "psychological impact" of the lawyer on Safarov, so that he gave "false testimonies" about torture over him. In addition, Usubov appealed to the Bar Association, calling to punish Sadigov.
How the Deputy Prosecutor General learned about the contents of the lawyer's conversation with the defendant, he did not explain. This gave the lawyer grounds to believe that his conversation with the defendant was overheard.
Safarov's mother also stated that the lawyer was under pressure to refuse of the defense and not to appeal against the torture over Safarov.
It was not possible to receive comments in the Prosecutor's Office and the Bar Association.
Recall that on July 3, a Russian citizen, a native of Ganja, Yunis Safarov, wounded the head of the city of Elmar Veliyev and his guard. A week later, on July 10, a group of 150-200 people organized a protest action in front of the city administration. During the clashes with the police, two high-ranking police officers were killed.
On July 30, Prosecutor General Zakir Garalov said 61 people were arrested in connection with the events in Ganja on charges of grave crimes. Another 13 people are wanted. Four people who committed armed resistance to the law enforces were killed. -05D06-

Baku, often called the "Caucasian Dubai," is increasingly known for systematic violations of residents' housing rights. During urban renovations and the construction of elegant new buildings, thousands of families in Azerbaijan’s capital have been unlawfully deprived of their homes. Many, recognizing the futility of resistance, settle for inadequate monetary compensation for their irreplaceable property. A minority, placing faith in the Housing Code, demand fair compensation from construction companies but often lose everything—both their homes and any form of recompense.
