Ministry of Internal Affairs and Prosecutors Office violate the presumption of innocence of T.Bagirzade
In a joint press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Prosecutor General Office on the lawsuit against the theologian Taleh Bagirzade, was violated the presumption of innocence, according to lawyers of the arrested.
In this regard, the complaint will be filed with the court, Turan was told by the lawyer of Cavad Cavadli.
In particular, he pointed to the invalidity of the application of the law enforcement agencies on Bagirzade’s involvement in the arson of the villa of the Popular Actor, Zeynab Khanlarova. According to him, in connection with the allegations, no investigation was conducted against Bagirzade, and no conclusive evidence was provided.
The lawyer also pointed out the lack of logic in the indictment against Bagirzade in the events of April 2, though he was detained on March 31.
The lawyer called on the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Prosecutor Office to investigate cases of torture on Bagirzade. Last Saturday, he was transferred from the Office to Fight against Organized Crime in the Ministry of Internal Affairs to the jail of Kurdakhani.
Bagirzade was arrested on March 31 on charges of illegal possession of drugs, including 1,026 gram of heroin. However, human rights defenders are convinced that he is being persecuted for criticizing the government's policies in his sermons. –16B06-
