Mirgafar Seyidov is dismissed from the post of Chief of Baku Police
Baku / 14.11.20 / Turan: Mirgafar Seyidov was relieved of his post as head of the Main Police Department of Baku. The corresponding order was signed by the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Vilayat Eyvazov.
By another order of Eyvazov, Seyidov was appointed head of the main police department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for transport.
No one has been appointed to the post of chief of the capital's police yet, an informed source in the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.
Seyidov enjoys the reputation of one of the odious high-ranking police chiefs. His name was mentioned more than once in the context of scandals with political repression and torture against critics of the authorities.
He served as Chief of Police in Baku since 2014, and before that headed the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Combating Organized Crime, also known as the "bandit department".
In September 2017, Seyidov, along with representatives of various countries, became one of 15 persons involved in the list, which the international human rights organizations sent to the US authorities for their inclusion in the Global Magnitsky Act in order to apply sanctions. –06D-
