MP proposes direct negotiations with Armenians without OSCE
Baku /31.10.18/ Turan: The leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia should enter into direct negotiations without intermediaries, that is, without OSCE participation. Deputy Zahid Oruj made such a sensational statement at a meeting of the parliament. "We need to create a new format of settlement negotiations, "neutralizing" the participation of third parties. At the next stage of the negotiations, the Armenian and Azerbaijani communities of Nagorno-Karabakh could join them," Oruj said, commenting on his idea in an interview with a Turan correspondent.
He also noted the positive outcome of the agreement between Aliyev and Pashinyan in Dushanbe, after which the parties were able to establish operational contact and reduce tensions on the contact line. "This shows that direct negotiations between the parties are quite possible and real," Oruj stressed.
In his opinion, such a format will be much more productive than participation in the settlement of the OSCE Minsk Group. At the same time, the deputy acknowledged that his proposal could cause a negative "resonance", but urged the public to seriously think about it. -02D-
