Mujzhnieks: I Hope Hollande Will Raise Questions about Release of Activists in Azerbaijan
The CE Commissioner for Human Rights Nils Mujzhnieks, speaking at the PACE session, touched upon the situation in Azerbaijan.
On the question of one of the deputies that on the eve of the European Games in Baku there are political prisoners in Azerbaijan and what can be done to solve this problem from a humanitarian point of view, Mujzhnieks expressed a hope that "humanitarian" aspects will be taken into account in deciding on the release of the activists.
In this sense, he expressed a hope that the French President Francois Hollande will raise these issues with the Azerbaijani leadership during his visit to Baku in the coming days.
"Returning to your countries, tell your athletes, what country they are going to visit," said the Commissioner, stating the inadmissibility of ignoring human rights problems. -06D--
