"Musavat" condemns the repression against protesters
"Musavat" party condemned the authorities for prosecution of members of spontaneous protests of the population in the regions of the country and the pressure on the activists of the party in connection with the protests. The party believes that the protests are spontaneous, because the authorities are not taking effective steps to prevent price increases. "Musavat" is in solidarity with the protestors and fully supports their demands. Detention and violence against participants of the protests and prosecutions aim to intimidate the population," reads the statement.
The leader of the "Musavat" Arif Hajili called the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime, which had warned him, that the leaders of Lankaran and Siazyan offices of "Musavat" were arrested. All this is a manifestation of the pressure of the authorities. In addition, heads of local branches of "Musavat" are called in the police, where they were accused of inciting protests.
"We state that the current protests were not organized by the party" Musavat "and other opposition parties. These actions have become a manifestation of popular protest against the intolerable social situation.
