“Musavat” Party demands release of oppositionists for attempt to hold a protest against new law on political parties
Baku/30.09.33/Turan: The “Musavat” Party condemned the authorities' illegal ban on holding a protest rally by the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan and demanded the release of all those detained during an attempt to hold an opposition rally, including the “Musavat” Party and civil society activists.
Today, the PFPA tried to organize a protest in front of the parliament building in connection with the desire of the authorities to adopt a new law on political parties, which severely restricts the activities of political parties and even their existence on the political stage of the country.
The police stopped the protest attempt. Dozens of oppositionists were arrested. —0-

On the evening of February 5, it was reported that journalist Shahnaz Beylargizi had been arrested. She had been a presenter on the Toplum TV channel for several years. After a criminal case was initiated against the channel in March 2024 and nearly all of its staff were arrested, Beylargizi was questioned multiple times.
