Nazarbayev proposed the adoption of Turkey to the Customs Union
The Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev at the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in Minsk offered to disband the organization.
"This organization should be closed as we do not need it, that's for sure," said Nazarbayev .
Also, the President of Kazakhstan proposed to accept Turkey into the Customs Union . "The President of Turkey came to me with a request to join our Customs Union. Lets take Turkey, too," Nazarbayev was quoted by the Russian media.
According to him, spending time abroad, he was often asked about the fact that "we are creating something like the USSR or under Russia." "We should take Turkey that is a big country, and the conversation will be over," Nazarbayev addressed to the presidents of Russia and Belarus.
In addition, he suggested that Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan should join the Customs Union as observers. As for Armenia, then, according to the Kazakh leader, the country " should also go through all the procedures that took place with Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia, to become a member of the Customs Union."
Ankara has not yet commented on the statement by Nazarbayev. -02D-
