NCDF New Candidate can be nominated on August 26
Today's meeting of the leaders of six parties, entering the National Council, decided to hold a regular session on August 26, and elect a reserve candidate from the NCDF to participate in the presidential elections. The initiative group meeting on the official nomination of a candidate will be held on the same day. This was announced at a press briefing after the meeting, which was attended by: the leader of the "Musavat" Isa Gambar, head of the Popular Front Party Ali Kerimli, head of the Classic Popular Front Mirmahmud Miralioglu, chairman of the Open Society Party Sulhaddin Akbar, the head of the Liberal Party Avaz Temirkhan, and leader of the "El" Eldar Namazov.
According to Namazov, the National Council received information that Ibrahimbayov does not have obligations to the Russian Federation. He believes this is sufficient for the submission of Ibrahimbayov’s documents to the CEC from the initiative group of voters, and to start collecting signatures.
To register Ibrahimbayov as a candidate, he was to be deprived of his Russian citizenship. The National Council hopes that this issue will finish before the stage of delivery of signature lists.
If on August 26, the National Council nominates a new candidate, the question on his approval in the CEC will be decided in five days. In the case of a negative result, three additional days will be required for consideration. The deadline for signature lists is 18:00 hours on September 9. It is necessary to submit 40,000 signatures from 60 counties. For this, the National Council has very little time - from 5 to 10 days.
Therefore, the uncertainty and indecision in the National Council and the slowness in decision-making can deprive the opposition of the possibility to participate in the elections.–06D-
