NGO coalition demands to punish leadership of Defense Ministry
A coalition of seven NGOs involved in military issues, sent an appeal to the law enforcement authorities due to with the illegal actions of the Defense Ministry. The appeal entitled "Security, Democracy and Economic Development," reads there are numerous cases of violations of law, corruption, bureaucratic arbitrariness in the armed forces.
In addition, high-ranking officials of the Defense Ministry put pressure on officers. The appeal also refers to the refusal of the Ministry of Defense to cooperate with independent civil society institutions.
Defense Ministry ignore the proposals of the NGO coalition on the improvement of the situation in the army, an resolution of the problems of servicemen. Moreover, the generals are trying to hinder the work of NGOs.
The authors of the call to investigate the activities of the Ministry of Defense, to take measures to ensure the safety of members of the coalition.
The coalition has also sent a notice to the Baku Mayor Office to hold pickets in front of the Ministry of Justice on March 9, and the residence of Safar Abiyev, the Defense Ministry in the military settlement "Red East". -05D06-
