No agreement on principal issues with Baku - Armenian Foreign Minister
Baku/25.03.23/Turan: 4 Azerbaijani and 3 Armenian documents. According to Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, this is the number of documents exchanged between Yerevan and Baku on the peace treaty, the Armenian service of Radio Liberty reported.
According to Mirzoyan, it was possible to find not ideal, but mutually acceptable wording, discussions were held, compromise texts were formulated. However, "this, unfortunately, does not relate to the issues of key importance, they are still at the stage of discussion, the positions of the parties are still far from each other," he said speaking at the parliament of the country.
Mirzoyan also noted that there is no mediation in this negotiation process.
"There is no Western option, there was a Russian option in circulation, which we agreed to, but the Azerbaijani side did not. The rest is the Armenian-Azerbaijani option. The West has not offered us any document, any variant," the Armenian Foreign Minister stressed.
To recall, Baku proposed five points to the peace treaty in March 2022, which implies mutual recognition of territorial integrity, border demarcation, rejection of territorial claims in the future, opening of communications and rejection of threats to each other's security.
The Armenian side stated that it accepted these conditions but demanded that the Nagorny Karabakh issue be included in the treaty. Later Yerevan demanded that Baku begin negotiations with Karabakh Armenians on their status and negotiate with Yerevan under international mediation.
Baku rejects these demands. -0-
