Official Baku declined to issue renewal visas for four employees of the Iranian embassy in Azerbaijan, according to the Iranian news portal, Arannews. No names were given. According to this source, in the past, Immigration Service demanded that all four diplomats leave Azerbaijan due to visa violations. The diplomats left Azerbaijan and paid large fines for breaching the visa regulations.
They were then advised to apply for new visas at the Azerbaijani consulate in Tehran and Tabriz. However, they were not issued visas from there. According to Iranian sources, all four diplomats have worked in the Iranian embassy in Baku for more than ten years.
