Opposition Criticizes SOCAR for External Borrowing
Uni Credit Bank Austria has provided several companies of SOCAR Trading Group a loan of 250 million dollars. The loan aims to support the trading activities of the companies. The legal adviser for the agreement is the British company Norton Rose Fullbright.
SOCAR getting the credit has caused criticism by the opposition. The Chairman of the Popular Front Party Ali Kerimli on his Facebook page questioned the feasibility of obtaining loans by SOCAR. He recalled that last year the company received loans from Gazprombank, amounting to 489 million USD, from the International Bank of Azerbaijan, amounting to 1 billion 291 million USD and from Canada, amounting to 3.3 billion USD.
Kerimli criticizes the SOCAR external borrowing policy and fears that the state will pay for it in the end. -03D-
