Opposition denies allegations of Ilham Aliyev
Baku / 19.03.20 / Turan: “The fifth column” should be sought not in the opposition, but in the team of authorities,” said the head of the Musavat party Arif Hajili, commenting on the statement by Ilham Aliyev that the opposition is trying to use the situation with coronavirus to destabilize the situation in the country.
“All world leaders in their speeches make positive calls for the consolidation of society. However, Ilham Aliyev decided to threaten and search for internal enemies, the “fifth column”.
In fact, enemies must be sought in the highest echelons of power. They represent the interests of Russia in Azerbaijan. Some of them do not lose activity even after being removed from their posts and Ilham Aliyev knows them well.
In such a situation, making claims against the democratic opposition is absolutely unreasonable,” Hajili said.
“The inaction of government agencies is a concern. For example, the public does not know if there is a Minister of Health in this country. Where did he go? Problems should not be sought within the opposition, but in the government,” Hajili said.
The deputy chair of the Popular Front Party, Seymour Khazi, also criticized Aliyev’s statement, noting that the accusations against the opposition are unfounded.
“We urge people not to panic, to avoid unrest. What is so bad?
The authorities just want to use the situation to isolate the opposition.
All decent people in this situation should direct efforts to lead the country out of this situation, and not think about confrontation,” said Khazi. –21B-
