Opposition to initiate a constitutional referendum
The Center for Democracy and Human Rights of Political Parties, which includes more than 15 organizations, intends to initiate a referendum to amend the Constitution.
The idea was approved at the hearings at the headquarters of the Democratic Party.
The People's Party leader Panah Huseyn told Turan they decided to develop the concept of democratic reforms and their implementation until 2018.
Part of the reforms should be an amendment to the Constitution, in particular, the restoration of the proportional electoral system by the parliamentary elections in 2015.
To this end, a working group was formed to gather the necessary 45,000 signatures of voters to initiate a referendum.
Along with this they will continue the fight against repression and create a rally committee. At the same time, the Center leaves the door open for dialogue with the authorities. According to Huseyn, the release of political prisoners would serve the elimination of tension in the society.
Recall that the Center includes the parties Musavat, Classic Popular Front, the Liberal Party, the People's Party, the Democratic Party, the Islamic Democratic Party, the Citizen and Development Party, the party Umid, the Party of Free Democrats, Aydinlar, Azadlig, National Unity - Unified Azerbaijan, Great Azerbaijan and others. -B06--
