OSCE Chairman-in-Office held telephone talks with Bayramov and Mirzoyan
Baku/11.08.23/Turan: OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of North Macedonia Bujar Osmani held two separate telephone conversations with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Ceyhun Bayramov and Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat on August 10 Mirzoyan.
According to the OSCE's official statement, Osmani expressed "concern about the situation around the Lachin corridor" and its impact on the civilian population, in particular on vulnerable groups, including women and children.
Stressing that he is closely monitoring the situation, Osmani "once again called for constructive and productive dialogue as a way to sustainable solutions for the benefit of the conflict-affected population."
Osmani stressed that "humanitarian considerations and the urgent needs of people should be above all."
He offered his "good offices, as well as OSCE confidence-building tools and measures within the framework of decisions on normalization of relations and confidence-building between Armenia and Azerbaijan." Osmani expressed readiness to continue his personal and active interaction with the parties. In this vein, he reiterated that "the OSCE Chairmanship is ready to promote dialogue to achieve a sustainable and peaceful settlement." -06D-

The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) today issued five rulings on applications from Azerbaijan. The case of "Afgan Mammadov v. Azerbaijan" concerned the complainant's exclusion from the Bar Association. Mammadov was expelled based on a complaint filed by a colleague, which he considered unjust. The ECHR ruled that Mammadov's rights had been violated and ordered Azerbaijan to pay him €5,000 in compensation for moral damage and €1,000 to cover legal costs.

During the ongoing COP29 climate conference in Baku on November 14, a group of activists staged a protest condemning Russia's aggression against Ukraine. The activists also denounced countries that supply oil and weapons to nations waging aggressive wars. The protest featured placards with slogans such as: "From fossil fuels to peace!", "End war crimes!", "Punish the aggressor!", and "Phase out fossil fuel use to achieve peace!" among others.
