PACE does not want sanctions against Azerbaijan because of the case of Safarov
Council of Europe is not going to take any sanctions against Azerbaijan in the context of the question on Ramil Safarov, said PACE President Jean-Claude Mignon at the press conference.
According to him, during the PACE hearing of the case on Safarov, it was not planned to adopt any document. "There is no need to adopt any statements or resolutions, as well as the termination of the authorities of the Azerbaijani delegation," said Mignon.
He noted that the extradition of Ramil Safarov to Azerbaijan and further his pardon gave him a shock. "In general, we do not want to add fuel to the fire. Our goal is to establish normal relations between the two countries. The issue of Ramil Safarov on the agenda is just a discussion of the situation," said the Chairman of PACE.
He repeated that he was against the reopening of the subcommittee on the Karabakh issue, considering that the subject is the prerogative of the OSCE Minsk Group.
"We are for a discussion between the delegations of the two countries within the framework of the Council of Europe. I meet with the two delegations and I want to have a normal conversation," said Mignon.
The discussion of this issue will take place in Strasbourg on Thursday at the end the day. -04С-
