Parallel Conference of OSCE Civil Society
Baku / 07.12.17 / Turan: A two-day parallel conference of the OSCE Civil Society in Vienna ended on December 6 with a meeting with the OSCE leadership and the transfer of recommendations of human rights defenders.
The annual meeting of human rights defenders of the OSCE region, the Civil Solidarity Platform (CSP), is traditionally timed to the OSCE summit, according to a press release from the OSCE.
This year, the focus of human rights activists' attention was the infringement of human rights in the course of the expansion of security measures taken by the OSCE countries in connection with the danger of terrorism.
On the first day of the conference, the implementation of OSCE commitments in the human dimension was discussed, as well as a discussion was held on the prevention of security measures on human rights.
On the second day, crisis situations for the human dimension in "autocracies" (Russia, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan) and "democratic countries" (USA, Poland, Hungary and Spain - in the example of the crisis in Catalonia) were discussed.
At the end of the meeting, the final documents were adopted: Recommendations of Civil Society 2017 and Vienna Declaration of CSP. They were transferred to the OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Austrian Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz. -02D-
